Thorpe breaks up this pass during the Aug. 27 scrimmage at Palmerton.

The Thursday, August 27 scrimmage against Palmerton attracted a big crowd on both sides of the field as the Olympians and Blue Bombers practiced game situations for three hours.

Jim Thorpe’s defense looked solid with Tyler Mangold, Mike Carpenter and Fox building an imposing wall at the line.

Cody Baier scored a touchdown on a run from QB Corey Cinicola.

There were lots of other great plays and thanks to the fans who came out to cheer on the team!

Our first game is against Tamaqua at Veteran’s Stadium.  In case you haven’t heard, WNEP ranked Tamaqua #16 in their Super 16.

Let’s show WNEP and all of Northeastern PA who really deserves to be on the Super 16!

It didn’t stop raining but the Jim Thorpe offense and Red Swarm defense didn’t stop either. The final score: Jim Thorpe 42, Tamaqua 20.

Big Herc was in the house getting the crowd going.

It was a beautiful night for a football game and our Olympians did not disappoint. The stats are incredible and will be posted here later, but I wanted to share the photos I took. We’ll have more (professional!) photos later this week so check back often!

Only 2 days until the 2007 Olympian Football season kicks off. Game one is on the road vs the Tamaqua Blue Raiders. Come out & support this years squad as they begin their quest for the Anthracite title and the district playoffs. Game time is 7pm at Tamaqua.
